Kendall Nelson is a Senior Lecturer at the Georgia Tech Language Institute, where she has taught since 2014. She holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Georgia State University and a B.A. in Spanish and Secondary Education from Coe College. Her teaching portfolio spans oral communication, academic writing, grammar, listening, reading, and content-based English for Academic Purposes courses for adult multilingual learners.
At Georgia Tech, Kendall contributes extensively to curriculum design, assessment development, and instructional innovation across the Intensive English and Short Course programs. She has served in multiple leadership roles, including Program Coordinator for the SABIC Foundation Year Program and Curriculum Coordinator for the Intensive English Program. She currently serves as Secretary of the Faculty Standing Committee on Instructional Technology, Research, and Learning Labs (2025–2026). Her work emphasizes learner-centered pedagogy, academic communication, and supporting international students’ transition into U.S. higher education.
In addition to her university teaching, Kendall worked as a Curriculum Designer for Duolingo, where she developed AI-driven, data-informed English learning content for a global audience. As a 2025–2026 Hesburgh Research Fellow, her current scholarly work focuses on educational research examining international students’ experiences within the U.S. academic system, with particular attention to language support, academic communication, and confidence-building through English.
