Dr. Mario Herane is a seasoned higher education leader with more than 17 years of experience advancing institutional growth, academic innovation, and digital transformation. As vice president for Global Affairs and Development at Universidad Mayor (Chile), he directs strategic planning, marketing and enrollment, technology integration, and global partnerships, strengthening the university’s presence across the Americas and Europe.

Recognized for his expertise in higher education management, online learning, and educational technology, Dr. Herane has spearheaded major initiatives such as enterprise-wide SAP S/4HANA implementation, large-scale LMS adoption, and multi-million-dollar marketing strategies that increased enrollment and improved cost efficiency. He builds impactful collaborations with leading universities and industry partners, creating new academic pathways and research opportunities. 

He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool, along with advanced degrees in education, business, finance, and engineering. Active in international higher education networks, he regularly contributes to conferences, publications, and advisory roles focused on innovation, quality, and access in lifelong learning.
